Lightning is dangerous and HOT---50,000 degrees

Lightning strikes the United States about 25 million times a year. Although most lightning occurs in the summer, people can be struck at any time of year. Lightning kills approximately 20 people in the United States each year, and hundreds more are severely injured. It is easy to become complacent during thunderstorms, but learning lightning safety facts could help save your life or the life of a loved one.
