The Carthage Parks & Recreation Department is accepting applications for a Recreation & Events Coordinator. This position plans, directs, and oversees staff, operations, and activities of an assigned recreation program and Memorial Hall. Areas of responsibility include, but are not limited to: youth recreation activities/events/programs, concession operations, rentals, cultural activities, and special events. The Recreation & Events Coordinator is responsible for the overall planning, operating, and coordinating all activities and operations associated with the City's Memorial Hall building.
The ideal candidate will have general knowledge of park ordinances, principles and practices of facility operations, basic recreation programming, basic budgetary and accounting principles and practices, and computer applications related to the work. Knowledge in the operations, services, and activities of a comprehensive municipal Memorial Hall program is a plus.
3-5 years of experience in recreation or event coordination and a Bachelor's Degree from a 4-year college or university in Sports Recreation or a related field is preferred. Must be First Aid, AED, and CPR certified, or able to complete the certifications within 6-months of the hire date.
Starting salary is $49,899.20. This is an exempt position as classified by the Fair Labor Standards Act. The City of Carthage offers a LAGERS defined benefit retirement plan, health/dental/vision/life insurance, along with paid vacation, sick leave, and holidays.
