The City of Carthage is pleased to announce the hiring of Roy Sawyer as Assistant Parks and Recreation Director.
Sawyer brings professional experience working with municipal parks departments on recreational development, capital improvement projects, site planning, budgeting, grant applications, and project management.
Most recently, Sawyer has worked with American Ramp Company, where he has partnered with municipal parks leadership teams to identify community recreation needs and plan action sports projects. His work has included reviewing potential development sites, assisting with project concepts and budgets, supporting grant applications and procurement, and working with architecture and engineering firms on parks projects.
Sawyer also previously served as a Project Manager with American Ramp Company, overseeing major action sports park projects and coordinating with parks directors, planning firms, staff, and other project stakeholders.
A Carthage High School graduate, Sawyer brings both professional parks and recreation experience and strong ties to the Carthage community.
The City of Carthage welcomes Roy to his new role and looks forward to his contributions to the Parks and Recreation Department and the community it serves.
